It is a good idea to make a photocopy of the first page of your passport. You can leave one copy at home and take one with you when you travel, being sure to keep it separate from your passport.
Also, be sure to keep a record of all travelers’ checks and credit card numbers separate from the actual checks and credit cards. If these items are lost or stolen, you will have a much easier time contacting the appropriate companies or offices to take action immediately.

If your medical insurance does not cover traveling internationally, you may want to consider purchasing travel insurance.
Travel insurance can cover emergency medical treatment overseas, medical evacuation and a number of other situations. It may also cover a traveler's trip cost against cancellation and interruption as well as lost or damaged property and travel delay coverage.
Our preferred Medical vendor is International Medical Group.
If you've done this before, here are the group and individual booking forms.
Our preferred Trip Cancellation provider (which includes medical coverage) is Access America.
When you visit the Access America site, be sure to enter our agency code: F033916.
